Seminar- VOICE YOUR OPINION: Prospects of Sustainable Building Rating in Bangladesh, Organized by the Institutes of Architects Bangladesh (IAB)
Bangladesh Sustainable Building Guidelines subcommittee under the Environment and Urbanization Committee – of the 24th Executive Council of the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) has organized a seminar- Voice Your Opinion: Prospects of Sustainable Building Rating in Bangladesh, on August 13, 2022. As the Member Secretary of the Bangladesh Sustainable Building Guideline, Architect Shafique Rahman hosted a discourse session with the leading Bangladeshi architects, Ar. Dr. Zebun Nasreen Ahmed, Professor, Department of Architecture, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, Ar. Md. Iqbal Habib, (Architect, VITTI Sthapati Brindo Ltd, Ar. Mohammad Foyez Ullah, Principal Architect, Volume Zero Ltd, and Md. Monwar Hasan Khan, Joint Secretary, Power Division, Government of Bangladesh.
Along with the discussants the invited guests were Ar. Mubasshar Hussain, President, 24th Executive Council, IAB, and Ar. Istiaque Zahir Titas, Vice-President International Relation. IAB.
In the interactive discussion, Ar. Shafique Rahman discussed different issues regarding Sustainable Building Design and Prospects of Rating Tools in the context of Bangladesh. Furthermore, the discussants spoke about the sustainable building design possibilities in academic learning as well as in the Bangladesh National Building Code (BNBC). The program was also accompanied by Akter Ul Azim, BIM Coordinator Specialist at IBI Group, and Dr. Anisur Rahman, LEED AP, and Energy Analyst, USA. Following the speeches, there was a time for questions and answers. Then the guests were awarded crest handed over by Ar. Istiaque Zahir Titas.
